We have three Red Star (ISA Brown) hens and four Buff Brahma hens. On a typical day we get six eggs, three standards (avg. 64g) and three bantam (avg 35g). The USDA labels 64g eggs as Very or Extra Large. 35g eggs are Peewee. Our flock free ranges when we're home and the weather is nice. Their house and run is outside on the lawn for three seasons and moves indoors during the winter. They eat vegetarian chicken feed, greens (like Kale and Chard) and grass. In the winter they sometimes snack on seed blocks which do contain beef suet. When ranging they eat all manner of vegetation as well as various "bugs". All the eggs we give away are ultra-fresh (less than seven days old), sanitized and candled. We have four, six and dozen egg cartons. Call Pat or send mail to eggs@bodosom.net if you'd like some more.

Ultra fresh "farm" eggs are a bit different from the factory eggs from Wegman's. They have orange yolks, often have thicker shells and have very firm and distinct egg whites. Some people can taste a difference as well.
